Donald Trump is now President Trump. And the official Twitter accounts of the President and First Lady, @POTUS and @FLOTUS, have been handed over to their new owners. But while the transition was taking place, some people noticed something a little off with the new banner image that Trump was using.
What's off about it? Well, the image is actually from Obama's 2009 inauguration and available for download from stock image site iStock.
Pretty sure the flag-waving cover photo from Trump's new POTUS account is, uh, a picture from Barack Obama's Inauguration pic.twitter.com/8ZvJKPzjV7— Kyle Buchanan (@kylebuchanan) January 20, 2017
And before you ask, it wasn't left over from President Obama. This was what the account looked like this morning...
But someone on the Trump team seems to have spotted the mistake, since updating the image to an American flag.
And then to a photo of Trump staring out a window.
But that hasn't stopped people from calling them out on the mistake.
Noticed you had to use an old Obama inauguration photo for your banner, so we fixed it for you. pic.twitter.com/qTkPCuGUY9— Full Frontal (@FullFrontalSamB) January 20, 2017
@kylebuchanan Don't worry. He'll soon update it to this pic.twitter.com/bOjXgMLMzb— Mark Bosworth (@markbosworth) January 20, 2017

@kylebuchanan @cyetain Why hire a photographer when you can buy stock for $33.00 (or 3 credits)? This is how we'll balance the budget!— Justin D-Z (@justin_dz) January 20, 2017

@kylebuchanan @RealGDT Already taking credit for Obama’s run as president. Typical.— Eduardo Garza Santos (@krickonaut) January 20, 2017
@Bakkster @kylebuchanan @BullManUGA could always use other American iconography. It's not like there's any lack of it— Pala-Flynn (@FlynnRausch) January 20, 2017
There's no doubt that people won't let this one go for a long time, especially since attendance to both the inaugural concert and the inauguration itself was pretty low.
